Thought I might continue a post here rather then starting a new thread.

Guess what!
The car is still going strong!

I almost bought myself a VW today. But... I couldn't give up this reliable car.

So it's never been back to a mechanic, I've changed the oil every 5,000kms.

One thing that did happen was loosing the key antenna thing. Can't seem to find another so I'm using wire (has its moments )

Now I've hit 205,000kms I'm wondering if there is anything that I should look for wear or potentially replace at around these KMs.

There is a noise when turning so will replace the tie rods.
Suspension might also be worth doing as I'm on rough roads alot.
Cheers

Use the steel centre pin of a pop rivet for your key contact. They clip in perfectly (provided you have the correct size) and have a similarly domed end to the factory contact. You just need to trim it to length with side cutters. I’ve done this a couple of times for different commodore keys.

Youll need to open the case though so that you can fit it properly.

Below image isn’t a pop rivet but principle is the same - you get the idea.

I actually have used a piece of wire that fits perfectly but no dome end so sometimes (rarely) when I go to start it just doesn't start believe it's to do with this.
I'll try this out cheers.
