Dear JC's Members,
This maybe one for the books, and/or memory banks.
I recently had a small issue with my L67 idling a bit fast [approx 900rpm when cold],
I put the Tech2 on it and everything appeared normal, Throttle Position, IAC postition etc etc, apart from the cold idle speed.
So after reading a bit about the TPS and IAC Solenoid on the Web and in the Manual I have,
I figured, just purchase a [new] replacements -
TPS @ $24 [after market] & IAC Solenoid to suit the L67 @ $80 [genuine replacement], Both from eBay.
Well that's were the problem become worse !
In the mornings with a cold start, it would idle at approx. 1200rpm, and stay there till it was up to normal running temperature, then drop to approx. 900rpm,
the worse part, was when your driving at 60km/h, you didn't have to have your foot on the accelerator, so the car was driving itself.
When you come to set of lights, its wanted to keep going, and when the lights change, take your foot off the brake, and it would get up to 60km/h by itself.
However, You turn the car off, and re-started it, it would idle at the correct speed.
[approx. 750>800rpm]
I checked all the fittings, connections, and all was correct,
Again checked with the Tech2 and still everything appeared to be ok.
So during the week, it got the better of me.
I decided to go to the wreckers and purchase a S/Hand TPS and a IAC Solenoid.
Come home and cleaned them up, and installed them.
Being the car hadn't been driven, this was a perfect test for a cold start,
So I reset the position of the IAC Solenoid before I started the engine,
Presto, it started cold @ 750/800 rpm,
then took it for a road test, and idled @ 750/800 rpm,
So I put the New IAC back on and waited till the morning and it started and run correctly,
So before it got to hot, I placed the New Aftermarket TPS back on, and started it and it idled at 1200rpm.
Again before it got up to temperature, place the S/Hand TPS from the wreckers back on,
and it started perfectly, and idled correctly.
and tried it again the follow morning [cold start] and was all good.
Moral of the story, some of the after market items can make things worse,
Hope this helps some of JC's members.
