Hi all,

Wanted to find out what people thought of this sale? is it overpriced or ? here is the link to the caresales link (its a dealer sale):

https://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Holden-Commodore-2006/OAG-AD-16311443/?Cr=0

My previous car was written off by a person who ran a red light while speeding in a BMW and destroyed my cars engine block. I was a bit screwed by the insurance payout so was looking at a second hand commodore, wanted to know what you all thought? (I hope this is ok mods?).

Thanks
Yog

Hey mate
Seems a bit on the high side for such an early model. I found a couple later SSVs for around the same price with maybe a tad higher Ks:

https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/can...lden-commodore-ve-ssv-redline-auto/1187075709
https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/royalla/cars-vans-utes/2009-holden-commodore-sedan/1196428233

I generally recommend people buy a series 2 if they can as the early ones are famous for the electrical issues but they would have been fixed by now most likely

The paint looks pretty bad from the pictures, has a white hue and the reflections aren't great so most likely swirled as hell.
It has SSV tail lights too and an exhaust system judging from the tail pipes.

Your best bet is to go have a look at it and make sure it has a full service history, if it doesn't then stay away. Make sure everything works, listen to it on cold start to hear any rattling from the engine, check for any leaks etc

Hi Mate,

Thanks for the help, I did think it was overpriced for a older car and was not sure either, I haven't bought from a private sale before atm all the dealer sales seem to be overpriced/too expensive. I will check those out those links too.

Appreciate your help there mate.

Hey all, (and thanks for your help Joshlikescalais)

Looks like the insurance company isnt paying out as much as I hoped, have to look at a much cheaper car now, unfortunately. (Apologies for the lots of questions, I am not very knowledgeable regarding cars).

Is this too much? its a YV SS Commodore 2002 car so its fairly old https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/amaroo/cars-vans-utes/vy-ss-commodore/1185304413 for 7500$?

The other one I found was a 2006 V6 for 5800$ https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/nicholls/cars-vans-utes/2006-holden-commodore-sv6/1197426445

or a 2003 SS VE for 6800$ https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/canberra-city/cars-vans-utes/vy-ss-commodore-series-2/1196890729

Was hoping to get a bit of guidance on the above cars, trying to find a decent commodore in the price range (its only ~7000$ for my budget got a bit screwed by the insurance payout).

Anyway appreciate any suggestions etc. Thanks all for your time.
Yog
