Anyone checked boot lock for parasitic drain issues ?
The last year even after pulling bulbs and testing,i still had a low battery which wouldnt turn the v8 over.
New battery 260.00 and still drained.
I found the culprit by accident,i removed boot light fitting and put a nice led strip in its place.
Looks great with the metallic blue duco, sort of matches.
Anyway, when boot is left open the light turns off after10 mins or so,but, the led lights still glowed blue although only faintly.Pulling plug on led strip the light dissapeared .
Ok,i removed the boot lock to try to access the wiring but seems its pressed or welded together.
The question....has anyone had this issue and successfully repaired it ?
I'm in the outback and spare parts are impossible to find, cheaply.
Thanks people.

Pretty sure you just aren't pulling enough amps to let the bcm shut off the feed.

Change to a normal bulb. Bet it turns off.

Lazyc,
Thanks for your input.
Should've mentioned i also tested it with my meter with the origional bulb in after i noticed leds slightly lit up.Then refitted origional globe afterwards.
I locked the boot lock by pushing the mechanism to close with boot open. Then tested the out put cables to bulb.
Parasitic drain was 1.5v,plenty of loss there to drain the battery over a day.
I've connected a charger when its parked.
Also its my toy and not my daily drive.
I give it a good run once a week when i feel like a bit of enjoyment.
Cheers rog

VEGTS BUILT BLOWN E85
never tested mine but i did replace the boot lock and the new one looked to be a revised unit so may have been an issue

Hoping this helps other car owners unable to find their vehicles drain.
An auto electrician couldnt find it either.
Managing battery power like winding power windows up before turning engine off and turning headlights off immediately when they come on prior to starting.all interior lights off, glove box light globe out.
I also use a 1.5v solar panel when I'm parked away from home just so i don't need to dissconnect the battery each time i park for awhile.
I'm looking forwards to reversing all this when the
Boot locks fixed.

if the light is mostly turning on/off with boot simulated closed i would suspect you have a leaky transistor in the bcm not a boot lock problem
is there a separate boot open switch or is it incorporated into the lock

lout, switch is in lock as far as i can tell.
I suspected the electronics in lock were at fault.
The boot lock mechanism works as it should.
The key and glove compartment boot open button all work.
The boot light is controlled by the boot lock open /close mechanism as i tested.
I will google what you suggest and learn more as I'm a back yard mechanic and self taught auto electrician with just the basic understanding.
Google is my encyclopedia.lol.
Appologies for slow reply, been under meds last couple days, sleeping.
Thanks again.
