Hi all,
My wife's VE timing chain has just stretched/gone out of phase (whatever they call it) , accompanied by the engine knocking, lack of power, & diesel engine sound.
We've had it confirmed by a local mechanic.
Just wanted to ask you guys:

1. A good repairer in Ballarat, VIC.

2. or, even if you think we should get a re-co engine put in ???

3. Cost / time , of the above options.

Any other comments / thoughts would be great.

Cheers.:help:

well the first is dont take it to holden. they will charge u way to much about $4000 for the job . i got mine done for $2000 took a day and bit to do it. glad to have the power back and quiet engine. the place i got mine was in lynbrook. peerless auto. he even gave me a free car to use while mine was getting done. i know ur in ballarat. but a drive to lynbrook drop off ur car grab the loan car and come back next day and pick up ur car all done. its a common problem on the 07 downwards VE.

Thanks heaps for that SV6 , definitely somewhere to keep in mind.
I'm actually in Stawell, but still, if they supply a loan vehicle it might need to be for a week though.
Might give them a bell tomorrow.

Probably $1500-$2200 to do the chains. If nothing else has been damaged when the chains stretched.
