I have a friend that has a [stock as rock) 2008 VE 60th Edition Calais, L98, (Nice Car)
but needs some Love, but its still a nice car tho.

The problem is -
RE: Reverse Positioning Mirror with Heater and Puddle Light fault. (Part # 92202270)

He called in and asked I could look at the passenger side mirror, as it constantly clicks when he selects reverse,
thats when its trying to move to its Reverse position,
then when he selects Drive, is constantly clicks to move back to its driving set position,

What he does, is he taps the round mirror position button and it stops.

I got hold of Standard 2008 Calais Mirror and it just constantly clicks non stop,
So that is not compatible to swap it over.

I checked the wiring diagrams I have on hand here,
and there doesn't appear to be relays to drive the Reverse/Drive positioning of the passengers mirror,
Thinking the LH Mirror relay was getting stuck, but that appears not so,
Unless I have missed something.

So I am now thinking, the Mirror monitors the positioning when Reverse/Drive Selected,
Thus meaning its the mirror memory unit that causes it click constantly.

I am assuming the Mirror Switch/Control does all the work for normal mirror adjustment.

Any input welcome.

Edit: I have checked the schematic diagrams and they don't seem to have relays driving the mirrors.

try setting the mirror a little higher in normal driving position
if it is already set low
then it may run out of travel when trying to dip lower for reverse

The plastic gear in the mirror is stripped out. The plastic gear in the other mirror is even more striped out.

On our WN Caprice V I had the same issue when I put the car in Reverse and the mirror was too low as it tried to go further down to see the gutter and it clicked and I can see the mirror itself shaking so I set it up a little and its ok now.

Off to the wreckers and find correct mirror and change over.
