    Hey guys. I have a 2008 automatic sv6 and am looking to get a louder exhaust with NO droning. I am currently running a stock exhaust with ss-v rear mufflers which give off slightly more noise but does drone a little at about 1400 & 2100 RPM but i don't mind it as it not a bad drone. I have recently had the chance to run a 2.5" big bore (rage) rear mufflers on it and it sounded (to my liking) really nice while standing still but as i started to drive it it had one of the worst drones i have ever experienced with the seats and dash vibrating madly (and not to mention my ears lol). They were taken off ASAP. I would really appreciate to hear from anyone who would know how to get a louder sound without the drone. Cheers. 20140506_153811.jpg

    Look at my SV6, I'd got a good complete system which doesn't drone at all and give a bit of extra killer wasps.

    Nice... Would it make any difference that mine is a series 1 and not sidi or anything... I have heard alot of people saying that the xforce exhaust drones on series 1. Also it is an auto... i forgot to state that. sorry

    Shouldn't be that different. Autos drone a little bit more than manuals.
    I'd talk to someone local and get them to try on a few different exhausts until you've found one you like. If it's an exhaust shop they'd have lots of different ones just laying around and would be fine with doing that.

    Unless the shop owner is a mate you may have to pay for their work. There is a bloke here that would know if any don't drone and sound like ****. If you can bother reading exhaust threads you will find heaps, not sure why as they are all the same. Not an Akra fan or something is the dude. should be on the site sponsor list under exhausts or something.

    I'm sure they wouldn't mind doing that as long as you don't mind paying them to fit and remove each different exhaust

    If they want to make a sale they'll chuck a few different exhausts on there for 5 minutes for free so you can decide what's better for your car. I'd suggest going in on a day that they're not busy so they can help you out.

    It's just like stores that sell beds, they let you jump around and test different beds before you buy.

    Yeah but they don't let you sleep in these beds or have sex on them before you buy do they?
    I've never known a workshop to go putting **** like exhausts on your car for free until you find one you like
    Who ends up paying for their time?

    Few years ago;
    I went to an exhaust shop, picked the brand I wanted but I couldn't decide which size would be better...

    The guy said I've got the same thing in two different sizes here for other customers I'll put them on and give it a quick drive around the carpark, you tell me which one you'd like and I'll order one for you.

    Some people are just nice and go that extra mile to sell you something.

    I dont know any exhaust shops thatll let you try exhausts fitted to your car until you like a specific sound without some kind of charge for their product and time. Not an abba fan is the exhaust guru you need to contact on this forum for good advice regarding exhausts:)

    Very difficult to get an aftermarket exhaust for a VE V6 that doesn't drone. Something with an X pipe and front muffler will work, but the rears can induce drone too if you pick the wrong ones. I'm yet to hear an off the shelf system not drone.

    I am also running SS Mufflers. Sound got a lot better when I installed Manifold Insulators. OTR going on soon which again should improve the note. I have tried a few different Mufflers and SS are the only I have found which do not Drone.
