Hi, I have had three, and still have one, VE SV6 manuals. The issue that you relate was present in my MY09, but only just noticeable. In my MY11, it was really noticeable, probably like yours. Generally evident in the rev range 1,400 to 1,900 rpm in the lower gears, but also throttle dependant, i.e. not evident at small throttle inputs. My MY12.5 Z has no issue at all, nor does my VF MY14. At first it worried me, but I became sure that it was actually a resonance issue rather than something seriously wrong. I had the vehicle for over 50K, and the issue neither worsened nor improved over that time. Deep reading into the VF publications identified to me that Holden increased the thickness of the windscreen and the distance between the engine and the firewall in the VF to improve "NVH". My MY12.5 actually received the thicker windscreen, so maybe that has a part to play in this resonance not getting into the cabin. If your issue mirrors mine, I would suggest that you just live with it as the trigger conditions only arise occasionally. In fact, I generally adjusted my driving to avoid the resonance wherever possible. Hope this helps.
thx went back to dealer , after much convincing they perserved with the test drive as noise wsnt evident , i told them that it was weight dependant ( on the passenger ) i got out the managerthen drove it up the service ramp and sure enough lthe grumble was there..anyway after investigation and them reading the notifications they confirmed that it was 'normal' for manula sv6 and ss..apparantly something to do wit hte way the gears mesh in the bear box, does this make sense . told totally no issue and totally safe ? once i am over 1200 rpm or so it goes only in 1st and second and definately dependant on the weight of the passenger , ,anyone over about 80kg no sound at all .. up to that its there ,,, how can this be ??/ holden deny the weight part ,,,i
Now you've got a legitimate excuse to pick up fat chicks and your mates can't tease you. This might actually help your resale if you find a chubby chaser buyer!
