Sounds like it is either seized or vapor locked.

The overheating sounds like the cause of the problem. All the other issues arose once the car overheated and restarting the engine only worsened the problem. The cause of overheating needs to be determined but it could and probably has caused further damage. Once the engine has cooled, check and refill the radiator, then try to restart the car. You said it wouldn't turn over but that could range from a flat battery to a seized motor. If the battery is charged and it turns over, at least the motor hasn't seized. You need to clarify these issues before proceeding any further.

If the engine did nip up it will probably un-nip when cold but it will be cactus.

If it's not starting with a fully charged battery, water in the radiator isnt going to help.

So its probably buggered completely then or is there a chance its like the starter motor or even alternator?

Wont be the alternator. Starter is still trying to turn over the motor but is unable to due to high pressure.

Does the motor spin by hand if you put a socket on the harmonic balancer?
