So after selling my trusty 2006 DH COMP, I was on the hunt for a new rig.

Criteria:
- Under 2K
- Large frame
- Good condition
- No older than 2010

I spotted a 2012 Lapierre DH720 well out of my price range. I decided it wouldn't do any harm to shoot the seller and offer and boom! A deal was struck.

It's all stock at the moment, so the specs are:

Frame: DH 720 Rear Carbon / Front Alloy Supreme 6
Rear Shock: Fox DhX RC2 with 350x3.25 (500x3.25 spring on it's way)
Fork: 2012 Rockshox Boxxer RC (Need to get a stiffer spring)
Headset: Alloy Semi-integrated Cartridge Tapered
Stem: Funn RSX Ii Bolt On Black 2011
Rear Mech: SRAM X9 Short Cage 10 speed
Shifter: SRAM X7
Chainset: FSA Gravity Moto X DH 170mm 36t
Bottom Bracket: Shimano Integrated Bearings
Cassette: SRAM PG-1050 11x26 10 Speeds
Front Brake: Formula RX with 203 Avid rotor
Rear Brake: Formula RX with 203 Avid rotor
Rims: Alex FR32
Front Hub: Lapierre DH 20mm
Rear Hub: Lapierre DH 12x150
Tyres: Schwalbe Muddy Mary DH 26x2.50 (These things feel MASSIVE and grip like a mofo)
Seatpost: Lapierre Comp 31.6x250mm
Pedals: V8 DMR's

Very pleased with my purchase as the thing is basically brand new. There is not a scratch on it... aside from what I inflicted today at Lysterfield. :)

Feels SOOOO amazingly smooth. Took me a couple of runs to dial in the suspension, but great to ride and so easy to pedal!

I did notice that I felt like I was working with my legs more on landings, but that could be because I was hitting everything a bit fasted for getting more air.

Anyway, not I have ordered some clear frame skinz as I want to try and keep it in as good a condition as it is.

Mate, that's nice. I found a similar issue on my new ride when I dropped 5kgs, then it dawned on me, less mass, more speed and less impact absorption, so my body wore it. Totally worth it :)

Thanks mate. And yeah, think I will gave to be a bit more serious about the situation to justify this rig.

Things that are now done:

- 500x3.25 spring installed
- Clear vinyl wrapped frame
- Serviced forks
- Bleed and serviced brakes

Things still to be done:

- X-Firm spring for the front fork

Video of a recent ride

It's a bit boring, but the highlights are:
2:25 – Visual of the step up in all its glory, followed by a few attempts
3:57 – A glimpse of my mate making the jump
4:05 – Following my mate over
5:11 – Just a cheeky little run down across a fire road.

Finally starting to feel like I am actually using my bike in a way that justifies it. :)

Next milestone, the two doubles that my mate jumped in the video and I chickened out.

Hoping to conquer that next time out.

dat gap.

your starting to really take the gloves off huh? dunno if id have the balls to do that one.

Yeah, it took me 2 bails before I did it. And after doing it once it feels easy. It's weird because it's like looking at it I built it up into this massive thing and then doing it all that build up is unwarranted.

Though I think it being easy is about 90% bike and 10% me... lol.

Unfortunately later that day I also did this:

No obvious fracture on x-ray but the doc thinks its an occult fracture as the fat pads have been torn from the humerus.

So time will tell really.
