Hey lads, currently looking at getting a new catback system for my commodore. Was wondering which is better a 2.25 inch or a 2.5 inch catback system. In terms of sound. I'm aware the smaller pipes allows better low-end torque due to backpressure. Thanks

Good timing, interested to see what responses you get. I have hi flow cats and ss mufflers and am getting some engine work done in a couple of weeks and was umming and ahhing about whether to go a 2.5 inch catback to just finish off the mods and squeeze the last few kw out of it all.

From research dual 2.25 seem the way to go for the stock engine. But most likely will be getting responses telling me to buy a v8 lol

I only have an omega and not interested in the dual system, but still looking for a SS muffler, do I want the Y tip or the dual tip (like the one in the link)?
I have read that the dual outlet can cause drone. You also need to make sure you you get the sedan / wagon one as the ute ones are longer. I made an enquiry about the one in your link and they told me it was for sedan / wagon but the outlets looked too long so I asked them to measure and it was 44cm which I reckon would be for the ute instead.

So you think these would be the way to go? I did notice the pipes come out a fair bit compared to even the stock muffler I have (that's just going by eye) I will make sure to get sedan/wagon ones, just curious on whether or not to get the Y pipe or dual, do they give a similar tone if you know?

I got the Y ones from an exhaust place, there are plenty around and will cost a lot less than new ones.
Decibel difference in idle is only around 3-4db more, don't know about under load. They must flow a bit better as my engine light has come on twice since I installed them 4 days ago. Not fussed though as not sure if I will keep them or go for a full catback when engine work is being done.
The Y ones either don't drone or drone a lot less than the dual outlet ones, apparantly.

I will have to keep my eye out for one, I'm sure I could rip a RHS off a calais or something at the wreckers for $50. get rid of the J pipe I am runing at the moment
