I wonder if it's anything to do with economy measures in the car. Holden like many manufacturers with successive models aim to reduce fuel consumption. Having the car dumbed down a little (and as a result, less responsive) I would say is one means of doing that. Still weird that an Evoke could possibly drive better than the SV6. Maybe a few tanks of 98 (like the BP ad shows the shackles being released in their ads for Premium), combined with a bit of a trans relearn will help. It's pretty optimistic that it'll be that easy though.

Who knows maybe, maybe not but the service tech didn't seem convinced himself i don't think, it just seemed like he knew what it really was but tried to tell me otherwise but he did say that a relearn may only make a small difference if any at all, that's the concerning part for me. i felt like he basically said, like it or lump it. NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

That sounds familiar and is a lot like my 9 year old VE. These are built for mum dad and grandpa to drive around the burbs and get good economy, yes even the SV6 models.
If it's got the balls when you give it right foot and better response in sports mode then it sounds like the mechanics of the car are ok and you are just expecting more than what you actually got.
On my VE I I find it goes better if you ease into the loud pedal rather than stomp on it so there is not such a lag while it drops 2 or three gears all at once.
A proper engine and Trans service with quality synthetic fluids should help a bit too it's likely to have the cheapest stuff whoever could find that meets the spec in it currently.
My box came to life when I put synthetic fluid in it and it was about 180000 Ks old at the time...

I'm thinking pretty much along the same lines, saw your post after I put up my last post. Reminds me of my old VXII Calais 5.7 probably being 4 speed auto doesn't help, but sometimes you'd floor that and think where or where is my 5.7 litre V8, then whammo it'd change down and off you go.

So do you think its worth going back to Holdens', i don't think its something i should be worrying about or paying for?

I'm thinking primarily it's driving style, if you're often giving it a bit, it tends to respond a bit quicker. Drive it sedately most of the time, it tones it down a little. SuckSqueezeBang suggested disconnecting the battery for a while, I'm not sure if that helps or not, but ultimately it theoretically learns from your driving style. Might be worth your while sounding out the opinion of trans specialist. If they really think it has any kind of fault, see if they will write a report given the it's under warranty. If they are going to some trouble for you it's reasonable to expect a charge for their services.

Ok, yeah not sure re: disconnecting battery though, id rather do that only if its definitely worth a shot, i might get the opinion of a tranny specialist see how i go with that first. You'd think if it was an easy fix, like fuel, injector cleaner or even a trans service the service tech at Holdens' would of given these as options whether i have to pay or not but this would at least give me some hope, but nothing hmmm, that's the worrying part.

As usual Holden will always want to stick to the service schedule to save themselves money as they know you'll tell them to F Off if they say ok we have your car a full service to bring it up to speed for you sir that will be $836.29 how would you like to pay?
Tricky situation for the tech if that's what he suspects it needs...
How does the air filter and oil look like on the dipstick? That might be a good indication.
@redvxr8clubby, exactly right lol sometimes when you jam your footdown its like counting 1,2,3 ok it wasn't an accident BOOM the power comes on and whack off you go haha. Love the surge when it comes though
