2016 VF SS Redline - Blown Auto Trans

Hi,
My daily driver, a 2016 VF SS Redline has just blown the Auto gearbox, it's done 73,000kms. Being a daily driver I drive it fairly conservatively - not a granny driver by any means - but it doesn't get thrashed. Blew the box taking off slowly from a roundabout, almost at walking pace.
Holden are saying that it's very rare that they have seen this and that SS Redline auto's are very solid. It's out of warranty but their replacing it at no cost.

Has anyone else experienced any drama's with their Auto's in the LS3 Redlines?

What are the symptoms?

Nothing at all prior to the event - all gear changes fine and smooth. Put my foot down slightly from walking pace and BANG BANG and the sound of shredding metal. No drive, no reverse, and when placed in Park a loud click, click clicking sound.

Ouch, good you are getting a replacement. Manual so can't comment on mine, plenty of autos on here though.

It is good that they are doing what is legally required under australian consumer law and covering the replacement which does not happen very often these days.

Yeah, being that it has always been serviced at a Holden dealership as well, I think helped.

What are we not seeing?

Because a $60k car is expected to last more than 4 years without a major component failure? Of course it will be replaced outside of warranty but if they didn’t play easy it would be covered under ACL.
