It’s common for the relays to appear like that. In the case of the link, I’m hedging my bets on that being caused by too much resistance in the earth circuit and that creates the heat. That is rectified by removing the parts described and cleaning them up.

Good to get a before and after measurements.

If you remove the relay, have the power off. No keys in.

Pin 87 & 87a will be the earths (usually). So the multimeter probe in one pin and touch the other to the body or better still, to the hard to reach earth point behind the battery.

Here’s the important tools I used.
The wire brushes (cheap to buy from Supercrap or Bunnings.) I really should get some new ones.
The multimeter. In the setting I have it turned to, it makes a sound if the pathway through the wire is good. It will also give a measurement on the screen of how much resistance is in that pathway.

Those relays cost about $15 on eBay or sparesbox.com.au

Also that’s high beam relay. I doubt it’s used enough to go like that so you can bet it’s been swapped with one of the others. Looking at the one with the cross, that’s a new relay in the fan blower motor (your heater fan) so I bet there’s been at least two relays swapped out.

I don’t want to over confuse things for you, just cleaning the earths costs no money to do. You can do it. It might solve the problem and if it doesn’t, it’s a big thing to tick off the list of causes.

Just take your time. Make sure you have a cup of tea or a beer to get you through it. Double check everything is plugged in properly when putting back in and don’t over tighten the bolts, nuts and studs. Tight but just nipped up firmly.

Thankyou and yes haha yes I realised that after I sent, also I have noticed splits almost all the way down on these plastic pipes , it's brittle as and when move it just opens up, do you think this could be the cause ?
It wont let me attach file as says too large , do you have an email I could send to please?

No, the plastic tube is split. It has the split to feed to wiring into it. Then it is taped in places.
Coverings and tape may deteriorate but that doesn't cause problems like you are experiencing. There is no easy way.

Edit the photo on your phone, crop the image down and it will be enough to upload. Any areas of bright white will make the file bigger. try crop as much out.

That’s normal.

I have some new tubing in the garage so I took these to show you how it works.

This is a loom I’m making. It has the split so the wiring can be fed into it.

This is the tube.

Once I have the loom taped up every 30cm or so, I feed it into the tube. Then cut the tube with scissors where it ends on the loom. Then I tape the end to the wires to hold it. Sometimes I wrap the whole tube in tape, sometimes I do it every 30 or 40cms.

Does that make sense? Hopefully it helps explain what you are seeing.
