Don't forget that the absence or removal of fake-chrome plastic also adds 3% accelerative ability to any car; switching it for black adds an extra 2%.

[sorry to derail this thread - but are you serious in saying that white VF's actually don't have a clear coat? I'm not at all disagreeing, I don't know myself, but it would really surprise me if all cars didn't go through exactly the same paint application processes regardless of colour?]

Wouldn't clear coat be faster? More slippery?

And I didn't think solid cars needed clear coat.

My VX (Devil Yellow) doesn't have a clear coat. Maybe that's why the paint is still great.

Any idea when they started doing this as I have seen it come up a lot.
I painted Commodores at the Elizabeth plant from around 1998 to 2007 and it was'nt being done then.
