Hey Guys,

I know this has probably been asked a million times before but here's one more time for the dummies. I plan to rebuid a warm 202 for my VK wagon and have been told that red blocks were stronger/harder wearing than black ones. Is this fact and if so how different are the water jackets etc. as far as fitting a 12 port head (what mods). The current motor has 330,000 k's and still going strong on LPG but now I'm doing 100k round trip to work I figure a fresh donk might be good insurance. Plus it sounds like a good project for me & my 13y.o son over winter. Any suggestions on cam, inlet manifold, head etc. very much appreciated. Currently running Webber (not that it matters on gas), extractors, 2.5" system, VH electonics. I noticed that the previous owner has drilled holes inside the inlet manifold (from middle ports?), kinda ugly job but any benefit? The motor needs to be reliable and not too thirsty but a few more horsepower would be nice. I know it's never gonna be a rocketship just like to give her a little more poke (so to speak).

Thanks heaps

To run the 12 port head on the red block ya just sit the head gasket on the block and drill the holes needed for the conversion and off ya go we done it years ago and had no issues with it.

Black blocks, L6 and V8 are always better, newer casting, upgrades where needed etc etc. JMHO.
