Very thirsty VT & VH project under way! YAY!!
G'Day all. I'm looking for an Adelaide based Carby Guru to check out my carb on the old straight 6 (83 VH 202). It has been rebuild but after installation it backfired through the carb a few times and will only run if it's super rich.

Have been told the needle seats may be burnt by the back firing.

Does this sound likely? If so Who's good at fixing them?

Cheers.

In the first post I just regurgitated details that my Dad passed on to me. I did start it the other day and it wouldn't fire while I had the engine turning over but when I let the key spring back to run it fired up and idled with any accellerator. Dad did say that when it gets hot enough it will just die. Does that help?

If you need carbie repairs in Adelaide.

Try Norfolk Rd, Marion.
or Sprint Carbies, Bridge Road (para hills area)

If it's dying when HOT, sounds like the needle and seat are not sealing properly and it's flooding. Defineately could be caused by the backfire.

Needle seat is about 15$ so quick fixed. Labour 1/2 hour, but they will charge 1 hour.

LOL.
