What engine? Has it been overbored/previously rebuilt?

Probably an engine builders way of identifying which rods belonged to which engine I'd say. If it's a large overbore, it may have been reconditioned by a company like HMGEM where they do a large run of the same engines, but to save costs they overbore them all to .060 so that they don't lose time in tooling setup.

Its a VT 304 Sorry should have given more info. I believe it is standard but now not sure. Trying to upload a photo but cant.even at 600kb resized it's too large a file for the server??
The 22 is on the very base (flat area) of the all the conrod bearing caps. It's not etched in anyway, kinda looks like a bluish purple printed ink
