231 vy 3.8 2002 204hp@3500

Same kind of engine....

Vy v6 is ecko technology =204hp@3500Rpm

I suppose the two car would have

Different Chamber volume?
Gasket volume?
Piston volume?
Piston to dead centre?

Same bore and stroke but fairly much everything else is different between the VN (L27) 3800 V6 motor and the later L36 Ecotec 3.8 V6 engine.

this engine design has an extensive history that goes all the way back to 1960's. See,

They seriously make 200 HP at 3500? I thought it was at like 5300 lol. 200 HP at 3500 I don't even think the blower one would do it. That would take like 315 ft lb or so I think the na one is only 220 ft lb or so.

Different Chamber volume?
Gasket volume?
Piston volume?
Piston to dead centre?
Different fuel injection
Different intake manifold and runners
Different and more efficient heads
Different compression
Probably a slightly different cam profile to suit all of that
Etc etc...

Just about the only short block component that's the same is the crank.

what wins a standing 1/4 a VN or a VT?
Would wager it would be the VN or they would be about the same as there's about 600kg of weight difference.

A base model VN is a lot lighter than a VT.

VN should 60foot better as it makes much more torque in the low rpm range, the VT will come back after the 1/8th mile.

Although both motors have the same displacement their operating characteristics are very different.

250 kgs is a lot lighter lol. Base VN tips the scale at just over 1300. Base vt tips the scale at 1550.
