Hey.
No offence taken from anyone. I appreciate any help.
I did get it running (very poorly). The problem on the compression I think was the valve stem seals. My mistake, I put them in before the valve retainer and it pushed them all down. Fixed that and it started.
Took it out as three cam lobes were badly worn.

Thanks everyone that threw in to help out.

As you may know too much cranking without the engine running can wipe the cam lube off, causing what has happened to your engine. Do you have worn valve guides? Some old cars didn't need valve stem seals yet they still run just fine.

It was an old motor I picked up cheap. It was sitting in a shed for years and I didn’t replace the cam. It was the original and installed with the same lifters to lobe to pushrod all matches up. I’d say the worn lobes was why it was put in the guys shed in the first place. All good.

It'll run fine without valve stem seals - it'll just smoke but wont cause it not to start. Would've been something else causing your issue.
