253 VH Vacationer
Figured I'd throw up a thread on my recent acquisition
This is the first commodore I have owned for a while, and never really had a whole lot to do with them to be honest (only had a VK and VL in the past amongst many many falcons), so please excuse any noob questions that I may ask!
Anyways, Car is a November '83 VH Vactioner
253 V8
3spd Trimatic
Non LSD
Some SL/E goodies (tail light extensions, Woodgrain dash with 44,000km's, console, dashboard, interior light, armrests)
Paint work is very average, and is in desperate need of a full respray
The body work is actually pretty good on the whole. Couple of rust spots around the front windscreen.......the worst rust in the car is the boot floor, which is pretty far gone )
Engine has had some work done to it. Has a 4 Barrel Edelbrock intake manifold, Advance headers, a mild cam (unknown specs, fitted before I bought it) and chrome Rocker Covers. I purchased the car with a knackered 2 barrel 350 Holley on it, and pretty much the only modification I have done to it is remove that carby and replace it with a 4 barrel Rochester Quadrajet off of 5L engine, and fit a new air filter assembly to suit.
As I bought the car
I had originally planned on buying a VK, and in preparation of this I bought a set of VS Clubby type rims. I tried them on the VH, and although I didn't mind how they looked, I decided against them and am still tossing up what wheels and tires I wanna use (probably just gonna track down some 15x7 ute stockies to run on the rear for now for a little bit more width)
Only had it a couple of weeks, so it hasn't really changed much on the outside
New Air filter ontop of the quadrajet
Plans for down the track a bit are basically paint.....I will be tidying up the blue paint for now, but I'd really be aiming for a full respray in silver at some point along the line. Lower front springs are a definate, and some exhaust work to tone the noise down a bit (its a little loud for my liking at the moment).
Also pretty keen to lay my hands on some more SLE bits and pieces, namely rear bumper extensions, dark blue seats, door moulds, and windscreen chrome work!
Have just realised I left an "a" out of Vacationer in the thread title (if a mod could fix that for me that would be great!)
