Figured I'd throw up a thread on my recent acquisition

This is the first commodore I have owned for a while, and never really had a whole lot to do with them to be honest (only had a VK and VL in the past amongst many many falcons), so please excuse any noob questions that I may ask!

Anyways, Car is a November '83 VH Vactioner
    253 V8
    3spd Trimatic
    Non LSD
Some SL/E goodies (tail light extensions, Woodgrain dash with 44,000km's, console, dashboard, interior light, armrests)

Paint work is very average, and is in desperate need of a full respray

The body work is actually pretty good on the whole. Couple of rust spots around the front windscreen.......the worst rust in the car is the boot floor, which is pretty far gone :( )

Engine has had some work done to it. Has a 4 Barrel Edelbrock intake manifold, Advance headers, a mild cam (unknown specs, fitted before I bought it) and chrome Rocker Covers. I purchased the car with a knackered 2 barrel 350 Holley on it, and pretty much the only modification I have done to it is remove that carby and replace it with a 4 barrel Rochester Quadrajet off of 5L engine, and fit a new air filter assembly to suit.

    As I bought the car

I had originally planned on buying a VK, and in preparation of this I bought a set of VS Clubby type rims. I tried them on the VH, and although I didn't mind how they looked, I decided against them and am still tossing up what wheels and tires I wanna use (probably just gonna track down some 15x7 ute stockies to run on the rear for now for a little bit more width)

Only had it a couple of weeks, so it hasn't really changed much on the outside

New Air filter ontop of the quadrajet

Plans for down the track a bit are basically paint.....I will be tidying up the blue paint for now, but I'd really be aiming for a full respray in silver at some point along the line. Lower front springs are a definate, and some exhaust work to tone the noise down a bit (its a little loud for my liking at the moment).

Also pretty keen to lay my hands on some more SLE bits and pieces, namely rear bumper extensions, dark blue seats, door moulds, and windscreen chrome work!

Have just realised I left an "a" out of Vacationer in the thread title (if a mod could fix that for me that would be great!)

I can't remember if it was on Ebay or not now come to think of it LoL..........would have been Ebay or Gumtree, they are pretty much the only places I buy cars from

I live in Woodside and go to Barker regularly so chances are we would have crossed paths in the area at some point ;)

I initially thought I would go with them, but I dunno, just gonna go a plain look with this car (my BA XR6T got defected like 3 weeks ago after only being back on the road for less than a month so trying to stay under the radar a bit)

In other news, the coil died on me on the way home from work this evening, but after a bit of searching around, found a replacement for $30 from a mate and she's back up and running again :)

Not much happening with the car at the moment

Currently out of rego.......should be rego'd again next week

Also picked up a pair of 15x7 stockies to run on the rear for some extra width............Anyone have any suggestions on tire size to run on these? I'd like to run 235's, but not sure if they'll clear the guards (being a Falcon guy, I could tell you how well any tire will fit under the back of an XD-XF, but have no idea what you can squeeze under the old commies!).............Guess I'd settle for 225's if 235's won't fit!

You should be fine running 235s on the rear.

    Thanks for that guys!

ajvx I have also run 235's on 18's under the back of an early commodore before, but on the 15x7's they'll have somewhat more sidewall bulge than the same width tire fitted to a 17x8 or 18x8 rim...............Good to know they should be fine though!
