Thanks for all the info and input guys. Hmmm seems I need to try and find a higher offset. I did see something in a 20 x 10 +48 recently but I imagine from what's been said that still won't be enough for clearance or will it ?

Instead of 23 poke it'll be 15mm. Just roll the guards of you want 10s.

You can run 285/30s on a 9.5 55P wheel

Stock HSV with 9.5 57P and 275s. Mountains of room

48 is better but if you want to get really close I'd be going a 50 or 51 on a 10 inch rear with 285 tyre. This is on the basis that a HSV 9.5 and 275 tyre clears the inner wheel well so matching the inside clearance with a 10 and a 285 dictates a p50 or 51 offset and the excess width on top of the HSV sizing sticks towards the outside. on standard height suspension you might get away without a guard roll. Just my opinion based on a calculator called rim and tyre offset calculator or similar. The 9.5 inch aftermarket wheels of well known brands often have a p45 offset and I've seen them on cars, they stick out past the guards horribly and look bad IMO. I don't know why they haven't been able to learn something off the HSV sized wheels......

Thanks Foggsy/Ducker85/Sean880 et al

Admittedly, the whole offset sizes Vs rim sizes and the various tyre dimensions seems to really do my head in no matter how much reading, researching and online calculations sites I visit and try out, so please bear with me as I do very much appreciate the advice and help you guys are giving me.

Please correct me if I've got it all wrong which is entirely possible, but if I go ahead and get my rear guards rolled I won't have any rubbing/scrubbing issues if I then fit 20 x 10 inch rears with a +40 offset with 285/30/20's ?

If I've got that part right AND if I've rolled the rear guards would this mean I could potentially fit 295's on? If yes - should I be looking at 295/30/20's or 295/35/20's given I'm at stock height at no big brakes to clear?

You might wont to check prices before you go to far I dont think the price of 295s are worth the extra size

So my rear wheels done scrub. My guards are rolled and I have drove around at about 335mm eyebrow height and it didn't rub.

Here's a compassion to what I have n you want. I'd get 275s if I was you tho

Stop trying to go wider!! 295s won't fit with 10s with 40P offset unless you do HEAPS of rolling n like a 20mm pump atleast!

Here's a side on pic of mine, at my daily height and it never rubbed.

Pic is with -2.5 camber, I had it corrected to -0.5 degrees and it NEVER rubbed

Thanks Ducker, will need to give it a lot more thought it seems. Might need to consider 20x9.5's all round maybe. Trouble I'm having is finding rims which appeal to me that also have the right offsets :s I'll update this thread when I come up with other options etc as I'll probably need further help...

i have the standard gts rims and they sit sweet as even dumped with full car load no probs, don't know why the rim places don't do the same offset as hsv, that look of the rims sticking out past the guard looks stupid...

You don't have to have wider tyres on the back. You could fit a set of 255 or 265's on the rears of a 10" wheel and have the stretched look but I'd advise you do the same on the fronts as well so I doesn't look weird.

the main reason Holden is use BMWs 120x5 stud pattern and that's why all the wide rims have low offsets, there made for BMWs not Holdens.

Most after market rims are disaster meter by 8 45P which are perfect for 90% of Holdens until the VE came long and you can fit huge rims n rubber under them.

Even in the states they have this problem as Chev has a different stud pattern again (same as HQ's) which is like 120.6mm.

If Holden copied BMW with offsets it wouldn't be an issue.
