Hi guys, sorry I deleted my other post as it wasn’t very clear.

What comes to mind when you hear this sound? Apart from harmonic balancer as it looks like it may have been replaced.

330xxx on the odometer and starts first time everytime. Still got grunt

Is there any way that you can tell if a Buick v6 is on its last legs? Apparently my VR was thrashed and used as a burnout car, unknown to me when I bought it.

Video sounds like it is in real life, just a tad less noticeable on the vid

Did you pull the belt off to eliminate the balancer like I suggested? Some balancers are lucky to last 12 months. Taking the belt off reduces noises that also mask the real problem.

Haven’t taken the belt of yet, but will to so when the weather clears. Thanks for the help.
Besides that, should it still persist with the belt off, would the engine be on its last legs?

Just take the belt off and run the engine. Need to start the elimination process. At the moment its all guess work.

Hi, took the belt off today like suggested. Here are the results:

(Noticed that the car idled quite high compared to when the belt is installed)

Links 1 and 2 are the cold start:

Link 3: the engine WITH the belt reinstalled, idling for 5-6 mins:

Thank you for all the suggestions thus far.

It doesn't sound like a big end a big end to me. Next step is to pull the rocker covers off and inspect the rockers for movement.

Appreciate the prompt response. If there is movement in the rockers, would that suggest anything bad?
Like a thrashed engine, or expect a reco engine or engine rebuild soon? Expensive to fix?

You're looking for excessive movement. If this is the problem it should be fairly visible.

Sure. But would it be a big concern? Easy fix for a begginer?
