Ok turns out "One steel" is the only local provider of something close enough spec for automotive"that i could find", but not selling direct to the public you must call them and find out your closest suppler. roughly $140 for 6m length in wich you have to purchase the full 6m.....( this is 3" 3mm thick."
just incase anyone else has as much fun as i did going threw every local aluminum foundry and refusing to pay $200 for a u bend at gogear out of 4130 molly

You won't find 3" as such but metric 75mm is readily available. Check out capral aluminum or other aluminum wholesalers/retailers in your area. Also ask around some metal fabricators in your area, especially if they specialize in aluminum. You might get lucky. Any common structural grade would be fine.
