i want to put the 3 window display in my VY Exec, but have heard that it isnt possible because the senders are different from series 1 to series 2. Is this correct can i not install the 3 window cluster into my VY???
I am wanting to do the same as well. I think its possilbe to install say a calais s1 into a exec s1, but s2, the fuel gauge sender was in reverse. Meaning, the cluster will say you have an empty tank when really its full.
Get the correct model. There are three different clusters in the VY I believe, two for the VY and one for the VYII. Get the right one, and it is a plug and play switch, just needing a TECH2 to program the cluster to your car's configuration. Get the wrong one and your fuel gauge will work back to front, as will the DTE (distance to empty).
You are correct with the fuel sender problem between series1 and series2.If you buy a new one from holden you can put in the correct kilometers for that vehicle.If you buy a second hand unit with over 100kms on it the speedo cannot be updated to your vehicle kilometers.If you check with your local dealer they should be able to tell you which clusters will work from you build date and VIN No.HSV do a white face 3 window cluster for series1 and was quoted approx.$550.00 supply only.Calais clusters are black face with white No and needles with 3 window.An auto electrician with Tech 2 can programe it for you a little cheaper than a dealer.
