Might seem like a dumb question but I have a mate with a blown xr8 and he thinks it's the fastest thing in the world don't get me wrong it's fast but I would really like to give him a run when I cam my ss and put him in his place. I'm hoping I can get about 300rwkw+ do use think it would have a chance?

No it won't win. Unless you spend huge money, chasing massive numbers on an N/A setup is wastage. Look into a supercharger or turbo setup of your own.

I know that Walkinshaw Performance do a PD blower kit for the VE and it makes mountains of torque down low.

Cam only probably wouldn't win, but it would sound x5 times better

I have to say the sound of that Walky supercharger is pretty addictive.

depends what the xr8 has done to it really....
the average size cam in a 6L makes around about 320ish rwkw, up to 350 with a fairly aggressive cam...

theres a BA xr8 where im from thats running 8 psi and it make ridiculous amounts of torque but only 296 rwkw... and i know for a fact its left cammed VZ/VE V8's chasing after it.

A cammed and stroked VE would be a better option, but it really depends on diff gears, torque, top end power, and weight, that's what will decide the outcome, oh and don't forget traction!!

As stated above, torque will win that race. The 2 cars in question will make their powers very differently too. Not sure what sort of blower your mate has but if it's a PD blower it'll smash a cammed car down low. As an example, I'm making ~ 600Nm torque at only 3000rpm. Near on instant boost that can't be matched by just a cammed car.

Really depends on how far you're racing doesn't it.

All things being equal if its over a decent distance, it should be much of a muchness.
As was said though, off the line he'll have you. If he can hook up.
