I bought a VR 5 litre auto ute, and when replacing the carpet and removing the kick panel covering the pcm. I noticed the pcm is a 5.7 pcm What is the benefit of running the 5.7 pcm on a 304 5 litre engine.

Picture of the ECU? Could be a stroker 5L ECU.

Pros are easier and more access to tuning, sequential injection, dizzy elimination if you put enough work in, maybe a couple other perks. Not a straight forward plug and play scenario though so it would have taken a bit of work to get going.

It's the same PCM as the 304 the difference would the memcal. The PCM code is the same, what is different on the label with be the Memcal code and hence the reason for the 5.7 label. Best to double check what memcal is actually fitted.
