Pulled the sump off today, discovered someone got a little too happy with the gasket goo when they installed it, I had to dig through it to actually find the gasket, and found a lot of it broken up at the bottom of the sump and inside the pickup.

I’ve left the pickup soaking overnight in kero and soaking the sump in the same, hopefully put it all back together tomorrow and that will fix it.

I already ordered a new oil pump from mace so I might as well install it when it comes in, for piece of mind if nothing else. Was going to shim the spring in it to up the pressure but I guess it should be fine without it now?

Not sure that shimming the relief valve will help - it probably won’t reach the preset relief pressure with standard setup/bearing clearances anyway. Personally I wouldn’t bother.
