304 rebuild

Howdy all, im about to rebuild my vs clubsports engine , not chasing big horse power or looking to spend heaps but would love a real nasty idle . Any gurus out there that can help with cam selection and rebuild ideas. Cheers

Crane 286 will give it a tough idle (youtube has plenty of vids) but you will need to up the compression ratio during the rebuild otherwise you'll end up with less power than stock and a slug to drive.

Flat top pistons and shaving the heads down 0.30 should get you where you need to be, you won't be able to get the idle your after on a stock engine as the compression is just too low to through much cam at it.

flat tops to up the comp or similar with stroker kit....that way can have cool idle sound yet keep decent drivability.

Can also get tuner to add more lump at idle just remeber will only go as far as banana manifold allow it.
