Hi i have a good running (10 years ago stored with heaps of oil down in bores ) i think it came out of a VC sedan but dont remember details anymore, its id is VT41264

Will be early commodore like you said, check the clock stamp above the timing cover to give you a casting date. Thats about all the info you'll be able to deduce from it.

You seem to be missing some numbers, 41,264 is way back in the HQ Holden days!

Assuming it's VT41264x then it's from the VH Commodore era (it'd only be a thousand-odd engines away from my VH SL/E engine).

While you're re-checking the engine number, grab the cast date off the front of the block (between the inlet manifold and the timing cover), that will tell you when the block was actually cast.
