You need to cut more of the block away to fit the 383 crank and it can break into water so you have to be carefull. It's best to have the block grout filled first before any machining is done and be carefull with the cutting

Nah stuff all for the 383 you need the block cleaned first then pour the grout in, it goes up to the bottom of the welsh plug and you cut the block the same way as for a 355 stroker but further. On your VS the block is allready machined at the factory to accept the stroker crank incase it was going in a 215 HSV so it can go straight in. But you might want the engine rebored if you are going to go to all that trouble and expense so it's spot on

Costs heaps to build a stroker of any kind. Most DIY builds are 5 grand at trade prices and closer to 10 grand from a shop. Might not seem like it but once you add everything up it's pretty costly

kit is going to cost about that but theres plantly of other thing to consider. machining for example and the like. Basically it possible to do a budget 355 for say $3500 (thats for me working in reconditioning where maching and parts are cheap) but to do a decent one with all the right gear decent flowing heads manifold and the all that your defenitely looking into $8000+ area
