I swear standards rev at 1900rpm in overdrive (0.70:1) at 100kph.

sounds about right for a auto.

1500rpm @ 100km/h would mean 2.6:1 diff ratio. not heard of that in a VN/VP. but then the tacho could be out also

How do you tell if you have different diff gear ratios? I bought my car about 4 months ago. It sits at about 2100 - 2200rpm on 100km/h in 5th (manual). Are my gear ratios standard?

Best way to tell, is to jack the car up and mark the tailshaft + tyre with chalk in one spot. Then turn the wheel, and see how many revolutions the tailshaft does for one full turn of the wheel.

You should be pretty well able to estimate whether it's doing 3 revolutions or 3.5 revolutions (approx).

Sounds to me, if you're getting around 2100rpm at 100kph, you're running 3.45:1 gears :)

Ah ok thanks. Are 3.45:1 gears stock? If not, what is the stock ratio?
