4 speed to 5 speed

Hey all
Got a vt Calais LS1 currently has a 4 speed auto trans in it which is on its way out just wonderin should I chuck another 4 speed back into it or was wondering if I can put a 5 speed in there not a huge fan of the 4 speeds but don’t know if I can just put a 5 speed into it or not

Not a good idea if a 5L40 behind a V8, won’t fit and wouldn't last,
A 6 speed 6L80e auto conversion will work, and is strong enough for 5.7,
But expensive.

Otherwise a manual conversion.

Either way, if it’s a car you want to keep, go for it,

If it’s just to fix it up to get it going for a general daily drive, replace the 4spd,

Either way, it’s going to cost a few $’s.
