Kind of have an auto gearbox issue in my LS1 VX. I know it's the 4l60-e, but just wondering if all the auto's from VR were the same, coz if I can get one from a VS or VT then that would be a bit cheaper and easier for me.

Also are the V8 gearboxes different from the V6's? And will a 5L V8 auto fit behind the 5.7?

Cheers

The aut behind your ls1 is a 4l65e which is basicly a beefed up version of the 4l60e.
and no a vr auto is th700. Not the same

the th700 and the 4l60-e are the same box, its just they used to be called the th700 but changed the name, from what ive read the 4l60-e started from vr and they still use it in the ve

to the op, you need to get a 4l65e as said above

hmmm, I thought it had the 4l60-e, I didn't think they brought the 4l65 in till a few years after. But a 4l65-e would be better anyway if I can get one.

VX came out with a 4L60E. You will need a V8 version and preferably from a VT series 2 (5L and 5.7L have a different bell housing bolt pattern).

Also a T700 and a 4L60E are not directly interchangable so don't even bother wasting your time on that one lol

So you can't fit a 5L gearbox to a 5.7L. Are the V6's actually weaker or have different specs or gear ratios, or will the bolt holes just not line up?
Will a 4l65-e bolt straight up to the VX LS1, and if so what exactly did they come in and where do I get one?

Thanks guys, so my only choice is a 4L60-e from a 5.7L V8, or (perhaps) a 4L65-e, Anyone know if they bolt straight up in a VX?
