I have yet to but would like to get into it. Probably gonna split a cheap one we can bush bash in with my mates
lol thanks Sab. Yeah its a good old rig, it goes further than my mates 2inch lifted and locked GU Patrol and mine is yet to get the Lockers fitted... Bit worried about being recovered and rescued if I fit them. Not to many trucks would be able to get to me if I end up on my lid or snap something, well in my group of mates anyway.
yea they bring their camping gear and make a couple of nights of it. lol that bus isnt exactly roadworthy... 44-46 ford
This was my old rig, passed it onto my old man.. 4.8lt 190kw Patrol ... Does the job without goin to hectic..
Yeah they aren't a bad car at all, they're a very underestimated 4x4 albeit a bit low. That 4 wheeler looks like fun! Is that your property/farm? (I'm going to hate you if it is, as it looks awesome).
This is my mates 1988 4.2 TD GQ Patrol. He bought it off a farm 5 years ago and has gone top to bottom replacing almost everything to make it a real tough weekender. Has taken me and him away every second weekend without a drama and has taken him around Australia and through the Canning Stock Route. Wish I had the build photos on my computer, the transformation has been amazing. At one point it was just a chassis in the driveway. Anyway, here she is... It has: *Aftermarker Denco Turbo and exhaust to suit. *2' Lift *33' All Terrains *Nav Lights *Custom Canopy *Heaps of other small things, bullbar, lights, winch etc. She's an old girl, but she does the job.... Here's a few photos to show some of our many adventures in Trol'
Not mine, a mates. His old man owns a station central QLD. A Large group of us spent Christmas/ New Years there. Brought all the boys toys out, Go carts, Bikes, Quads, farm cars. Spent the week getting drunk and did stupid ****
Heres my 94 Nissan Patrol TD4.2 DX. I bought her 'stock as a block' back in march and i havent looked back... its a great old rig! * Dobinsons 2in spring lift * Tough Dog big bore adjustable shocks *arb bullbar * 33in Federal M/Ts wrapped around 16in ROH Vilans * Uniden CB radio Shes nothing special but she does the job and goes everywhere i wanna go
Just a few more from the weekend. The water crossing was OK, but the bank was really loose gravel and the Rangie just dug the crap out of it and couldn't climb out. Two Patrols did the same crossing from the other way, one winched himself out, the other made it, but he had a front locker. The missus climbing up a small hilly section. Another hill earlier a few k's back. Me doing that same hill. Heading into the water. Halfway across. Not quite making it and having to get winched out.
Anyone here done Cape York before? We are planning to go up next June or July for 6 weeks. We will be leaving from the Central Coast NSW and stopping in at fraser Island for a week or so then heading up to the tip for some fishing and what not. There will be 4 trucks going. Just wondering if a trailer was necessary? I have an enclosed 7x4 tradies trailer that I was going to fit out with a Hilux axle housing with heavy duty springs, giving me, spare axles and a diff if need be. There will only be myself in the 4runner but I was wondering if that would be enough room for all the gear one might take on a trip like this? If I need more room for fuel and extras then I guess a trailer might be the go? Thoughts?
