5.7ltr SS - premium unleaded v unleaded???

Just bought a VZ 5.7ltr SS pretty sure the bloke before me didn't run premium. Should I?? How much does it affect; Economy? Power? Better for engine? etc.

i know this off track,
but i run 98 octance in my v6 all the time.
runs alot better on it.

My dad runs 98, in his VX SS, same thing. Goes harder

I reckon extra is. My L67 loves Mobil 8000 fuel. Even increased my throttle response over other fuels :) And helps keep the engine clean :) Burns better too. That and a CAI is all i did to get a 0-100 time of roughly 7 seconds (still yet to actually time it again and get exact figures).

yeh i run nothing but 98. you will get away with the standard stuff but i think the manual says 95 is minimum? not 100% sure on that so dont quote me. for the average car it shouldnt really matter, but once the car is tuned for 98 it will only work well with 98.

i Run 98 75% of the time, usually switch it up every 3rd time and use normal unleaded.. seems to get more mileage out of the normal and premium tanks when i do it.

VX SS (Original owner).
I run 98 in my VX SS which is stock apart from a cat back exhaust, I mainly run it for the supposedly cleaner burning, the detergent package is supposedly meant to keep the injectors etc cleaner. My VX runs great on it, but I have been in the country where 98 has not been available and thrown in the odd take of 91 or 95 and had no dramas.
With the VX V8 the recommendation in the Holden handbook is 91 octane.

Yeah id defo be using it every third tank or so.
just to clean it out if u cant be botherd or afford it every time.

I run nothing but 98 in mine but it's been tuned so to get the best out of it i run the 98. Beforehand i ran 95 without any probs and the economy was pretty good.
