everywhere i rang they were 150 a side i was hoping in the 200 range my self i could have gone copper but the 308 shop said you then have to o ring the blok to get a f**k up free fitment and you have to retension them apprently a lot of people dont do this and have problems i carnt comment as i am only new to playing with boost i can only go on their word i hate doing things twice and they recomended useing these
i ll tell you how it goes i should get them on next week end fingers crossed they turned up today and so did the rego renewal
You can o-ring the heads rather than the block, thats a crock of ****. The only problem with copper is seepage from the water galleries but this can be corrected by using a sealant. The problem as such isn't lying with headgasket choice, but rather the inability for the head to be held down to the block properly during times of increased cylinder pressure. I've used an MLS O-ring gasket which cost $95 a side. Combined with some ARP head studs and keeping the rpm to a safe level, there shouldn't be any drama's with blowing out gaskets unless it is from error in tuning. O-ringing on the holden motor is good for when the heads lift off the block as it keeps the cylinder sealed to an extent which gives it less chance of blowing.
Any head machinist can o-ring your heads. It should cost around $250-300, then purchasing of gaskets on top of that. If you are aiming for around the 300rwkw mark, then using ARP studs with a MLS will be adequete, as has been proven in the past.
so its cheaper to use the cometic???? i see what you are saying with the oring thats handy to know. the blok i have sitting in the shed is oringed on the blok but im saving that for early next year when i build a stroker.
