I think that's just him in general. He's very talkative. I was hesitant because of the whole racing, burnout thing but it's just easy marketing really.

ummm no....
wrong advise above....
Injected 5.0L uses a MEC716 coil to replace the oil filled type. not a HEI718 coil that blue motors use.
What I was saying was the oil-filled metal can blue motor coil (6 or V8) is a good replacement for the original 304 EFI coil, not that they are the same coil. They are way more common too, so should be a lot less expensive. With the typical 7 amps primary current of a 304 ignition module, a blue motor coil will put out 90 milliJoules. That's almost 3 times what an MSD6 puts out of a coil. They are a good setup.

Make sure the module is earthed properly ....I had a misfire with my 5 litre and we couldn't find it and it kept cooking the module and we replaced everything and it only stopped once we earthed the module properly...... we ran an earth wire from the module to the alternator bracket

Could be an injector. Make sure all have a good connection, no pins half pushed out ect.

Yeah, I changed them for new ones.

I got a new Bosch coil (the recommended one), I'll let you all know how it went when I work on it next.

I changed the coil and the coil to distributor lead. Miraculously this fixed the problem completely.

So after all it turned out to be a coil that wasn't right for the car the first place.
