I bought a full manual conversion from a mechanic for $1000. He offered to install it for $2700, and I'm pretty sure that included purchase price.

Where do you live? I can do a T5 conversion in your driveway for a good price.

lol Greenfoam, I should start an interstate mobile Manual and 304 conversion business :p

You'd need V8 brakes (1" master, bigger rotors, bigger finned calipers + pads), and V8 springs (technically, but you can get away without the springs). The diff should be fine, I think some V8 diffs had shot peened gears, but I don't think you'll need them. BW diffs tend to be pretty hardy to start with.

Then you have to consider Morton's petrol bill for carting a trailer full of tools interstate :p

... however, I should have some time off work in a month ;)

Haha, you'd have to get stuck in and get your hands dirty. I don't do ALL the work for people ;) One of my conditions is that people are out there working with me the whole time. :p

The original poster. Your S2 VP should have the bigger brakes allready. Diffs the same, Lukes putting 360 rwkw and 700+ Newton meters through non shot peened gears so you will be right :). To make it exactly like the V8 setup you would change front springs and add a 1 inch master cylinder

Ahhh ofc, Series II had the V8 brakes standard. I wonder if you'd only have to change one side of the wiring loom. The other end should, in theory, all be the same so long as you grab a loom from a VP V8. Series 1 VN looms would have had too much patchwork missing.
