Hi Everyone

I have a question regarding my new 2004 vz sv6

I bought it with a stuffed clutch and have since replaced with a single mass flywheel conversion.

Now when i removed the gearbox i found that the input shaft for the box did not have the small extension on the end of the shaft for the spigot bearing ?
It just ended flush with the spline. The clutch kit came with a new bearing

I have put the box back in and the car does seem to drive fine but does get a groan from the gearbox on take off under load.

I am highly concerned about the shaft not being long enough or have the short piece to fit into the spigot bearing as i have never seen a manual box that did not require a spigot bush/ bearing

Anyone seen a t56 with a short shaft like this ? or know why it may be different etc etc?

Thanks all

ay7 gearbox does not have a spigot bearing. you are getting gear box groan, noise, chatter because you have changed from a duel mass flywheel to a single mass flywheel

Thanks Jake383
Perfect answer mate :)
So there is no way to eliminate or decrease the groaning noise? or is that just a trade off with converting to a single mass flywheel ?

thanks

that is correct you can only remove the noise by changing back to a duel mass flywheel. But as most people say they just put up with it. I am using a after market duel mass kit but with the power im making i think il be changing to a single mass

you could probably try a thicker gearbox oil, it could possibly make it stiffer to shift gears when cold though
