6l80 conversion to early commodore

Hi there just wondering if anyone has put a 6l80 into vl. Just wondering what you have done bout the tailshaft to fit

The tailshaft will be the least of your issues. But you will need to measure the shaft and have one custom made with a slip joint.

I believe you can get a stand alone controller for the 6L80e, fitting it in the trans tunnel will be more interesting.

I know of a guy putting the 6l80 into a vs. Though, l don't have a link for that.

To me, it looks like it would be real tight around the back of the tranny.

To me, it looks like it would be real tight around the back of the tranny.
You have to massage the tunnel with a mash hammer round where the shifter is situated. You have to do it with the vt - vz too.
I think more with the vs?

Why not just go 4l80e? I know the 6l80 is more common here but you can still find 4l80s.

Why go with an old school 4 speed when you can have a 6 speed? the biggest gains in efficiency in the last few years have come from transmission improvements. More gears is better in most cases.
