Howdy all.

I'm wondering if anyone has any quantitative data regarding the performance difference between 3.27 and 3.45 diff gears in the VF SS Auto. I have used the search function and have seen some good information about the increased RPM at different speeds, however I'm more looking for the difference in 0-100 & 1/4 mile times.

I currently have two sets put aside - 3.27s brand new for $220 and the 3.45s brand new are $660. Given the $800 install and recalibrate fees I'm leaning more towards the 3.27s. I haven't been able to find anything other than peoples opinions on how the car feels after having the gears installed, so anything concrete would be nice!

Cheers

I have no idea but i think the stock gearing is quite good for an VE/VF Auto SS with around 260rwkw. More then enough torque to make the stock gearing useful especially when the 6L80e doesn't have the quickest shifts. If you must change it i would go the 3.27's unless the car will see alot of time at the strip.

most say the 3.27, the 3.45 makes first gear a bit low

These are all calcs mate and I assume it's your car, your weight of 85kg, using good sport tyres not slicks, difference 0-100kph is same speed but 3.27 is one metre ahead at 5.1s.
Over the quarter it is a tie at 13.5 in fourth however 3.27 trap speed is 167kph vs 3.45 is 165kph.
Yep nothing in it.
With slicks 0-100kph is 4.8s with 3.27 again ahead by a metre, tie over the quarter at 13.3 however the 3.45 trap speed is 164kph.
By comparison your 2.92 would be a metre ahead of 3.27 gears when it hit 100kph but the 3.27 gets to 100kph 0.1s faster and would be doing 102kph at that point. ie your car 0-100 5.2s and 5.1s with 3.27.

Go the blue car! Interesting how higher ratio gives the red car a greater acceleration near 250kph, close to two miles.

That was a cool little demonstration. Is there a link to it online to play with? so I can see the difference with 3.45gears 4L60E in my car vs stock 3.08 gears

Yeah sure here it is.

Same company who do RaceRender and TrackAddict - both very good for OBD overlays and linking HPTuners logs with video. I think HPT bought into it actually?
