I was thinking of the 6L50. It :) will bolt straight up to the alloytec. I'd be able to use the 6L50 torque converter. The front wheel drive stuff l haven't a clue about. Never dealt with it before.

Anyway l'm still thinking about it?
In the start off the project, I bought a full drive train out off a V6 as well as both a 6L45 and a 6L50, they are the same by the way, but they have a different amount off splines, to the 6L80, on the output shaft and the housing is smaller, so I stopped going down that path. It would definitely be possible though.

IIRC there are 2 different torque converters for the 6L80 from what I have read.

I just watched this and it shows how they did the trans shifter and controller.
It’s in the last 5 or 10mins. Goes through the gears. Doesn’t show exactly how they installed it but does show it working and it’s features.

He will be using an Overline controller, it takes the place off the BCM and comes with the screen. I have one in my conversion, but I am trying to control an older VE transmission with a VF shifter. The manual shift works, but as I said before, I need to go back to neutral and back into drive to get it back into auto. I have just completed a 5000 klm rally, about 7000 klm by the time I got to the start and got home again, and the auto never missed a beat. The manual shift worked really well, I could lock it in a gear and if I hit any rough, rocky or vertical terrain I could just slow down and it would drop back to 1st and lock in, once I crawled over what ever was in my way, I could then just shift it back up a couple off gears.

I found this which could be relative to the job for some:

It’s in the VT-VZ and other GM cars workshop manual.
I can bump you a link if you want it.

A couple off pictures off the finished console, it has taken me awhile, but it came up much better than I thought.

That’s a neat set up. What’s the button for on the passenger side of the trans tunnel?
