I have thought about doing it myself.

Also spent a fair bit of time thinking about a VF LS2 and 6L80E combo. All comes unstuck at the rear transfercase adaptor and rear mount.

Would need one fabricated.
The 4L80E transfer case adaptor was borrowed from the US, but haven’t been able to find from what?
From what I can find, the AWD transfer case was designed by Holden, but so far have found similar looking ones on S10’s.

Be good to find a 6L80 adaptor to fit our AWD transfer cases.

That side is pipe dreams for now.
Hi I came across your post whilst I was looking for information on the required electrical interface between an LS1 and 6L80E in a cross 8 Crewman. I am currently getting pricing on manufacturing the required adaptor housing and the stub shaft between the 6L80E and the transfer case. This housing will leave the transfer case in the same location in the vehicle, so that the drive shafts will not need changing. It looks like the transfer case mount may need a bit off a grind. Did you end up finding out any reliable information on a stand alone transmission controller. Wholesale Automatic Transmissions in Victoria, have a Compushift controller and I have requested info from them, but to date they have not responded. I am also working through what to do with the 4L65E TCM and its interface with the BCM and ECU. I am thinking that I might just get a manual tune on the LS1, but I want to make sure the CrossTrack system still works, I only use the car for charity rally's and the cross track is invaluable. If you are interested let me know and I will keep you in the loop. Regards Clive

I need to change my pants.

*** Edit ***
This is a thread made from an exciting side discussion from my Cross 8 ride thread.

Included in this thread is links to previous 6L80 & 90 conversions into:
• Regular 2wd drive Commodores not fitted with them.
• A 6 speed manual conversion in a Cross6.
• A retro fit of a Monaro into a Coupe 4 from an Adventra Wagon.

Overall, there is an increasing refinement on this concept as time goes on.

Cross trac works independent of the transmission, instead using the abs for traction control.

Thanks I have been trying to confirm that it does not look for an input about what the transmission is doing, you don't happen to have a manual with the cross track operation in it?

The Cross6 came with the 5speed auto.

Then there’s the guy who did a 6 speed manual conversion and Cross Trac works the same. (There’s a thread here on the forum)

The SS Crewman conversion thread:
https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/pre-ve-6-speed-auto-conversion.267342/

Of note, there is the option of using the paddle shift for gear selection.

The guy who did the SS conversion used the VF shifter, however, the Cross 6 and 8 use a cable shifter, rather than the through the floor shifter of all Commodores.

I found or saw something the other day where someone used a BMW shifter to do the job (which is cable shift)
