So just taking a bit of a poll before I make my next move on my new VZ's audio....
What would ya'll suggest?

- 6x9's in the parcel shelf (instead of rear door speakers)
OR
- 6.5" components in the rear doors? (replacing the cruddy stock ones)

Likely to amp them in time and put my old subs back in eventually.
Parcel shelf speakers will be a hassle but provide better sound to the front of the car from experience,
but they are such a hassle to install correctly! (taking out the spot welded plate and carving thru the parcel shelf)

Opinons?

Neither. 6-6.5" in fronts and subs in boot, nothing more. More speakers = more noise and less clarity.

hrm, interesting concept!
Correct me if im wrong but will this increase the power output for my fronts if the rear (stock speakers) are disconnected?
or will that require some form of merging cables and doing crossovers to do this? forgive me if thats a totally stupid question!

back speakers IMO should be for rear fill so I wouldn't chop the shelf ... i'd go components in the back doors.

Why put the good speakers in the back when you sit in the front ;)

Ok so now its either cut the rear doors all together or put in components?
Hrmm. Well if i put two twelves in the boot and keep my Polk Audio 6.5 splits in the front that should about do it? Lol

Is staging important or are you going for noise?
Rear speakers are ment for people in the back seat.
If your not after any real sq then I would go amped 6x9's in the rear. They make lots of noise and you wont hear them distort as much when the sub pumping.

Its still sounding like a generally 50/50 debate...
Obviously splits should NEVER be put in the rear.
But im going for quality over volume. I like my music loud but would rather compromise volume than quality.

I hear that 6x9 can cause alot of bass overlap and thus muddy-up the clarity?

So if i just had 6.5" splits in the front. 6.5 3ways in the rear doors and an amp......
Ok honestly now i dont know what i even want haha

If you have money to spare then put it towards better front speakers. Leave the back alone unless you have passengers there all the time. Disconnect the back speakers too.
