Finally finished procrastinating and got some rims to put my tyres on.

    16x8 Dynamic Sunraysia with a -22 offset.

Took them into work Saturday and fitted them up. Need to balance them next weekend as they're shocking and didnt feel like spending my entire saturday in the workshop.

For those who dont know, the numbers indicate "grams" you'd be lucky to need 20-60 grams each side on a good quality road tyre and rim combo.

    The offset sits really nicely.

    Road noise is unimaginable.

Had some fun up at Mt. Matlock on the weekend:

Went up through Warburton, and instead of taking the road up to Donna, went Right towards Woods Point

    Now that's some hardcore 4WD s**t! That's how a 4WD should look... caked in mud. :)
Definitely not a soccer mum vehicle. I like it.
I would love a 4WD, but I'm too vain and always have to have a 'pretty' car, and I can't afford to keep more than one. :(

    Big few weeks.

Finally got my 130w Highbeam globes wired up, incorrectly it would seem as it proceeded to drain my battery overnight. But before that, i got a picture:

Going to totally redo the wiring off the aux. battery in the near future and redo the switches in the cabin.
And then to top it all off, i had a HID go out. Got some new bulbs on order. Getting rid of the blue tinge.

Went up to Mt. Donna Buang with Dirbatua and Morton on Friday night, great amount of fresh stuff up there.
Should probably have waited until i had both my headlights working but anyway...

Halfway up my drivers side window decided to completely fall out of the reg that had busted on the way up. So i had to drive there and back with the window down, while it was snowing. So today i ripped it apart, pulled the runner off the reg and re-applied the rubber to the bottom of the window then into the reg. Also did the same thing to the passenger side which did the same thing about a year ago but have had it kept closed with the rest of the reg since. Passenger side motor sounds a little tired, but at $95 to replace, wont be for a while.

Plans for the next week or two are to sort out where the new LED lights i bought are going. If they output more light than the IPF's on the front they'll go up there and i'll get a single small light for the back. If not, i'll mount them on the roof rack as side lights almost.

    New HID globes arrived today.

Pulled out the old ones. This was the passenger side one, the one that stopped working:

And this was the drivers side. A little burnt and broken.

    New globes

    The rats nest of wiring:

Old Vs. New. Quality is alot nicer on these new globes.

New bulbs. 5000k compared to the 6000k ones i had before. No more blue.

    Old ones.

The wiring was different between the two looms, so i had to change over the whole loom which took the longest.

Did the old one that was busted work intermittently, or not at all?
My ute has HIDs which were fitted by the previous owner(sometime within the past 3 years), on the low beam and fogs, and both of them seem to not light up 1/10 times but on the left side only. It's a bit of a job to get to the fog lights, so I'm wondering if it's worth ordering replacement globes or if I should just order a complete new ballast/kit.

LHS one would flicker when you first turned the lights on then go out.RHS where it was busted just meant that it was loose in the holder and would fall out intermittently since i busted it properly about a week ago.

Thanks Sabbath. Maybe I should just buy some new globes, try them out and clean up all connections, and if that doesn't fix the problem buy a new complete system. At least I would have spare globes then.

Remember when you swap globes out, it's better to swap them out in pairs as as the globes age the colour can change slightly.

Also, i found that on the new globes the wiring harness was slightly different to the one that was in there before so i had to strip the whole loom out and start again.

Cheers mate. I always change globes in pairs anyway, well apart from that one time when I was 17 and changed one and then had to change the other 3 weeks later. ;)
Hmmm. Sounds like there will be no way to predict what happens here unless I do just pull my current system apart and have a look at it. I was trying to avoid that until I had something to actually put in there, but as this is my only ride it would be quite annoying to have it off the road/without working headlights while I sort out lighting issues. Thanks for your help Sabbath.

Beginning to accrue parts for my rewiring task

The voltmeter will be hooked up to the Aux. battery so i can check that one independently of the cluster mounted main battery.

Setting this up, obviously on the "Engine Bay" switch. Great for night time working.

Was nice outside today so went and had a look-see at my switch location.

They dont fit in there properly, which is a shame cause it looks good. But might work something out with the bracket i bought.

Started pulling the dash apart today:

Headunit wiring is a mess, will tidy it up a bit while im in there.

So as above, after trial fitting the switches would look great under the headunit but the supplied bracket was too long with the voltmeter hole in the middle.

    Which meant doin some cutting:

Which ended up looking like this at the end of today. Will need to now chop out the bottom of the pocket for wiring and also so the switches click in.
