when i brought 20inch rims for my '05 acclaim i got second hand incubus paranormals, much to my dis beliefe all four rims are 9.5 inches wide with 225/ 35 r 20 rubber stretched over them, i currently have the guards severly rolled with lovells super low springs, it scrubs on the tyre on the odd big bump in the road or when people are in the back and i am wanting to upgrading to lovells ssl. For anyone who doesn't know the incubus paranormal rims that are 9.5 inches wide have about a 3inch deep dish which looks awesome.

Question:

1. Has anyone ever done this and not had tyre or rim scrub?
2. Is there anyway to move the wheels towards the center of the car more or flare the guards?

Any help/ advice is much apprieciated

Thanx,
George

P.S. this problem only relates to the rear wheels.

I got 20 x 8.5 with a 225 on my commodore with SSSL's and i dont scrub unless its over a fair decent bump or goin up driveways

I removed my inner guards on all for corners and had to grind afew things out of the back where the lip tucked under

I'd be careful running a 225 tyre on a 9.5 rim thats alot of strech

The side wall of the tyre would almost be at 45 degrees

Thats ridiculous stretching 225 over 9.5"..

Asking for trouble there....

I have 245's on 20 x 8's.. and they fit just nice on the rim

Far out, thats a whole lot of stretching, what are the offset of the 9.5's?

I got 255/35's (as wide as my 275 Drag Radials) on my 9.5" 20" rims and they only just touch with SSL springs, due to the increased profile not width. they are running at 52p offset overall.

Feel free to PM me if you want any help or pics etc

On SSL

My rims are deep dish, I just re checked and I'm pretty sure there 9 inches wide and i think there 20p offset, so the guards are rolled and there's less than a fingers space between the guard and the rim, I dropped it on SSL's over the w/e and it sits sooooooo friggin' sweet and i'm supprised how little it scrapes, On wednesday it's off to the panel beaters to get the backend done where some dick head drove into me after falling asleep on the freeway. Then i get to give my angle grinder and dremel a good work out underneith the guards. will post pics asap.

oh and yeh some pics would be good SIG-054

Cheers,
George

tomorrow i will be having 2-5mm machined off of the rim where it mounts onto the hub to sit the rims closer to the centre of the car, hopefully this should help with the scrubing along with an angle grinder :yeah:

so long as the rims dont break will be all good:thumbsup:
