93 vr v6 hot start problems

My 93 vr when hot and stands for 20 minutes plus, appears to fire when trying to start and then cranks until fires with a cloud of black smoke that would do a diesel proud. Sometimes does occur when cold. When fires runs rough for few seconds until apparant flooding clears. Runs ok after start.
Miss that normal v6 crack when starting
Tech 1 test showed no probs except for oxy sensor which was replaced.
injectors test ok. Plugs, fuel pump and harmonic balancer replaced.
No error codes. Plugs normally burn white as has always done but checked other day and strange redish/orange to brown colour.
Have tried cold water on crank angle sensor but no difference.
Run premium & Ultimate fuel. Also have cold air induction. Fuel economy normal.
New battery but no difference.

Desperate for possible answer

Gidday mate, welcome aboard!

It sounds like there might be either a leaky injector, or perhaps your coolant temperature sensor is bung - something's got to be letting too much fuel into the cylinders.

As far as the injectors go, it could be a leak from one or two of them - what do you mean by "injectors test ok"?

Also quite possibly a fault or bad contact on the coolant temp sensor, which is locatoed under your alternator. It's a bit of a bugger to get at, but if it's not sending its message properly the car will try to run rich and will give you the problem you're having (over-priming on startup cos it thinks the engine's still cold.)

I hope this gives you a start on the problem, if not then it's a few things ruled out. Good luck. ;)
