Very educational this site, I learnt a lot from you guys!! Seems to me people should understand not all mechanics are savey, should go to people who deal with transmissions, you don't go to a veterinarian clinic to get your yearly check up you go to the GP!! Same applies to cars, take it to the company that has transmissions on the building that's their specialty. I was giving a shirt once it said beware of backyard mechanics no responsibility!!!

There are mechanics out there that are more than competant enough to do these sort of jobs, just like transmission specialises...However it is a case of finding the trustworthy ones.....

Are you saying that when the mechanic fitted the new tranny you weren't able to drive the car at all? If so, what did the mechanic tell you? And if he wasn't able to fix your car, did he tell you what the issue is and what's needed to get it going again?

One last question.
Did you pay this guy to try and install the box, or pay him to get your car back on the road?

If it's the latter, get him to do what you paid for.

I feel for you mate, but like others have said, next time have the workshop supply and fit the tranny.
Very beginner move mate I just told him to swap the trans so it’s probably not on him but I have another mechanic which is my mate coming on Friday and we are gonna strip it all and see if we can find the problem I will keep everyone posted with the what the issue was
