Hi let me first start with the problem then what I have done.
VT was fine for about 3 years she used to crank slow for the first crank then fire up no problem i was told this is common with VT's.
now she in the morning sometimes she will fire up straight away and then stall only to just crank away and not start or fire at all. then if your lucky she will just decide to start at random and when she is running has no problems at all. I had it scanned and 2 major faults came up for the (crank sensor) and the (Cam sensor) both I replaced with no change to the problem. also on occasion the engine light and traction lights come up ?
So what to do ? I don't think its the fuel pump as when she is running its all fine and not the 2 sensors as they were replaced.
I appreciate any help thanking in advance.

mine used to do a slow crank and then would start.. only when warm usually though.
These days it's not so bad since I've fitted a new exhaust system, but before it used to crank over but wouldn't start. sometimes cranking slowly.
Then it would take you to give it some gas a bit and it would go.
It's possibly a starter issue if its similar to that, although I can't comment about the stall after it fires up.

another guy on here also had the same symptoms as me and confirmed it to be starter motor after he replaced it and all is good.

If your problem is diff, it may be something else though, or a combination.

update I spent an hour under the bonnet pushing every sensor and looking for some sign of wire damage nothing but the car was starting without any trouble for at least 10 times I then gave it a vacuum for a reward and once finished gave it one last start and you guessed it it fired and conked out then just cranked without starting for a while. I disconnected the battery with the ignition on for 10 minutes replaced battery redid security code and she started fine for a few times ? I cant rely on the car any more until I can figure this out ?

SLow crank is the relay on the starter motor. Replace entire starter motor for 90 bucks.

Mostl likely culprit for not guaranteed start i sthe Electronic module that sits under the coil packs. Can try checking connections first but they tend to just go and when they do it randomly misbehaves.

Other possibilities -

fuel pressure regulator, PCV valve, and the vacuum hose that runs from under the throttle body to the vaccuum spliter block on the back of the left hand head (when standing in front of the car, facing the engine).

Can also be temperature sensor - can get bad earth and bad temperature readings from it.

i had the same problem, but when iI started replacing things, the Ignition module I replaced it with was a dud. so I replaced a fault, with another fault. Ended up spending heaps and replacing shitloads, probably unneccesarily, but neither the mechanic or ignition specialist could diagnose the problem.

I just recently replaced my starter after having the same issue as yours.
Worked fine the first few times, thought it was sorted, but then got stranded at a service station and had to wait for a jump start.

I'm probably taking mine to see an auto electrician, going by what others have said in one of my threads, it could be a bad earth which I'll need to find.
So see how things go.
